Man who allegedly murdered caretaker remanded Man who allegedly murdered caretaker remanded Aliki Livai Tiko. A 24-year-old labourer who allegedly murdered an elderly caretaker in Viwawa in Navua has been remanded in custody by the Suva Magistrates Court. Aliki Livai Tiko is charged with one count of murder. He allegedly assaulted and stabbed the elderly man several times before robbing him. The elderly man’s body was discovered in a drain the next day. Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili says Tiko is charged with an indictable offence and his bail will be decided in the High Court. The matter has been transferred to the Suva High Court and it will be called on the 1st of next month.

  Dec 13, 2020 04:10:44 PM The Magistrates Court in Suva has ruled that there is a case to answer in the matter involving former Fijian Ambassador and diplomat Solo Mara. Mara was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) with one count of Disobedience of Lawful Order and one count of Giving False Information. He is alleged to have disobeyed a lawful search warrant issued by the court by refusing to comply with the warrant and is further alleged to have given information, which he knew to be false to a FICAC Investigator. Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili in delivering the ruling stated that after considering the evidence before the court, there is a case sufficient to put the accused to his defence.
