U.S condemns attack on ‘Humanitarian Partners’ in Borno
The United States Government has condemned a recent attack on Damasak town in Borno State, by suspected terrorist group.
The Embassy of the United States, in a tweet on Thursday, described it as a crime against humanity.
“Attacks on humanitarian partners represent an affront to humanity. Our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and all Nigerians, “ it tweeted.
Reports say the attack on Tuesday killed about eight people while displacing residents who had to run towards Niger Republic.
The development is coming at a time Nigerians were asking the whereabouts of about 115 Chibok school girls still in Boko Haram captivity seven years after their kidnap.
A Nigerian-American, Kelechi Ndukwe, has been congratulated on his new role as commander of a US Navy Guided Missile Destroyer.
In a tweet on Thursday, the US Mission in Nigeria said Ndukwe, who graduated from Notre Dame and the US Naval War College, is the first Nigerian-American captain of a Navy ship.
Kelechi also served at the Pentagon in Washington.
He received the Defence Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
“Kudos to Kelechi Ndukwe on his new role as commander of a U.S. Navy Guided Missile Destroyer. The University of Notre Dame and the U.S. Naval War College alumnus becomes the first Nigerian-American captain of a U.S. Navy ship. Congratulations!” the tweet read.

Kelechi Ndukwe, a Nigerian-American, has been appointed the commander of a U.S. Navy ship, USS Halsey (DDG-97), described as an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer. He is the first Nigerian-American to reach the height.
The U.S. Mission in Nigeria Thursday congratulated Mr Ndukwe, an alumnus of the University of Notre Dame and the U.S. Naval War College. He was appointed last Thursday.
