the des moines police for eleven years. police say greene fired 15 to 30 shots into the squad cars with a 22-caliber gun. kcrg t-v nine s dave franzman joins us live tonight from the des moines police department. dave, there s already a pretty big memorial for the officers set up there. beth, there is a squad car draped in black with bouquets of flowes similar memorials sprang up in urbandale and south of the merle hay mall where the two officers died in their squad cars. while police caught the alleged shooter shortly after 9:00 o clock this morning the investigation is far from over. warrant here at a home owned by the suspect s mother. one neighbor says this is where the suspect and his family lived as well. at the morning news conference, officers called it a terrible day with no easy explanations. what we can tell looking at the scene is it appears neither officer had an opportunity to interact with the suspects it doesn t look like there was an exchange of convers
