Of des moines, where police say someone shot and killed two officers in two separate shootings. Just after 1oclock, someone shot an officer near Urbandale High School and then 20 minutes later, another shooting where an officer was shot and killed a few blocks south of Merle Hay Mall. Both officers were sitting in their cars when someone attacked. We listened to a news c police. They say there is no one in custody at this point in time. They call the suspect a coward, and police are working quickly to try to determine who is the shooter. The Des Moines Police for eleven years. Police say greene fired 15 to 30 shots into the squad cars with a 22caliber gun. Beth, there is a squad car draped in black with bouquets of flowes similar memorials sprang up in urbandale and south of the Merle Hay Mall where the two officers died in their squad cars. While Police Caught the alleged shooter shortly after 9 00 oclock this morning the investigation is far from over. Warrant here at a home owned by the suspects mother. One neighbor says this is where the suspect and his family lived as well. At the morning news conference, officers called it a terrible day with no easy explanations. What we can tell looking at the scene is it appears neither officer had an opportunity to interact with the suspects it doesnt look like there was an exchange of conversation there definitely
