NEWTON, MA Just days after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cleared the Johnson & Johnson vaccine after a brief pause, a line wrapped down the block Monday in Newton Centre as people waited for the one-shot vaccine at a walk-in clinic.
Union Pharmacy, a local, independent pharmacy, decided to host the walk-in clinic because of the demand. People were constantly calling us, asking if we had J&J, even though there was this pause, and when it would return, Union Pharmacy manager Dr. Ripsime Guyumdzhyan said. We realized we had all this [vaccine] sitting in the fridge and people needed it.

The accelerated phased roll-out schedule is as follows:
March 31: Law enforcement, firefighters, grocery store workers, food and agriculture workers became eligible for the vaccine.
April 5: All residents in Phase 1B, which includes postal, public transit and manufacturing employees, will be eligible to start scheduling vaccination appointments.
April 12: All residents in Phase 1C, which includes workers in transportation and logistics, water and wastewater, public health, finance and construction, can start scheduling vaccination appointments.
April 19: All residents 16 and older can start scheduling vaccination appointments.
Pennsylvania currently has no statewide vaccine sign-up system. Those in Fayette County, however, can use the county’s registry at fayettecountypa.org to sign up for an appointment. The county is working with WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital, Highlands Hospital and partner pharmacies to offer vaccines around the county.
