jenna: we ll see if that can do the right amount of momentum to get everyone back into a job, which you say is a big question. we have to talk about union workers because a lot of the employees in the public sector are attach today a union. we re seeing so much different union battles across the country. absolutely. jenna: do you think this is a real inflection point for the economy where this will change unions forever, or is this a cycle where, you know, the unions may be pushed in one direction but will come back stronger as the economy improves? well, you know, unions were losing out when the economy was booming. their influence in american culture has been on the decline for quite a long time. but what we re seeing now, and i ve never heard this before, is you don t have a right to exist. it s not that we don t want to negotiate, you don t have a right to exist. that s been the position of the people opposing the unions. jenna: some of them, yeah. that s kind of untenable. h

this morning. mary, good morning to you. how concerned are you for your union members, as we see these union battles spreading across the u.s. from wisconsin to ohio, even to alaska. what are you hearing from your members? i m very concerned, but not just for our union members but for the entire american middle class. we think people are standing up in madison and the 66 cities across the country today because we want to stand up for our vision of the american dream. this weekend, you have these events planned in more than 50 cities. what happen can we expect, in terms of showing solidarity with the workers in wisconsin? well, it s been amazing to me that the faith community has risen up and taken the stand, the environmental movement has shown their support both by having organizers in wisconsin and sending letters of support. it s an amazing response to helping support the nurses,
while democrats are stalling a vote by camping out in illinois of all places. gregg: some democrats are also in illinois blocking antiunion votes in their state house. jenna: even in states without legislation pending proceed labor demonstrators are hitting the street to show their support in these union battles. to be to be is live in madison wisconsin with the latest situation there. the only work being done is in the assembly, right? what is happening in that lower chamber. reporter: well they pulled an all nighter in the assembly last night, jenna, it s also called the house, in wisconsin they call it the assembly here. they are able to deal with this budget repair bill because the democrats there didn t make a run for the border like their counterparts in the senate. the bill was introduced but it s going very, very slowly. that is because democrats in the assembly have loaded it up with dozens and dozens of amendments and they are drawing out the
