The Massena Fire Department Union, L2220, was recently able to secure the donation of 4,000 face masks from the Ford Motor Company through their Apollo Project. Ford created the Apollo Project at the onset of the pandemic to create and distribute PPE to emergency service and educational organizations to help responders stay safe and to help schools and daycares reopen safely. Massena Firefighter Mulvenna was able to secure this mask donation to help ensure local emergency service agencies and schools had the face masks they needed to respond to incidents safely and to keep virus transmission down. In the coming days, L2220 members will begin donating these masks to local emergency response agencies, schools, daycares and small businesses to help keep our community safe and to hopefully offset some of their costs of having to purchase PPE. MASSENA â Massena Permanent Firefighters IAFF Local 2220, was recently able to secure the donation of 4,000 face masks from the Ford Motor Company through its Apollo Project.

New Year’s Eve is a night to celebrate, and firefighters want you to make a few resolutions for a safe December 31.
The most obvious resolution is to avoid drinking and driving. This may sound simple enough, but it goes beyond not getting behind the wheel when you’ve had too much. It means planning for a designated driver, a cab or rideshare service and also means encouraging others to be safe as well. If you are planning a party at your home, make sure your guests get home safely or stay overnight.
