One Team welcomes Final Four volunteers

May 25, 2021 by Euroleague.net Print Volunteers are one of the key pieces to ensuring the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four runs smoothly, and this week s group in Cologne has been given a special welcome session by Euroleague Basketball s social responsibility program, One Team. The special event for the group of 35 volunteers was held online due to the pandemic restrictions last Thursday, hosted by Euroleague Basketball Ambassadors and former continental champions Joe Arlauckas and Ramunas Siskauskas, who are both long-term supporters of One Team. Abigail Martin, Euroleague Basketball s Corporate Social Responsibility Director, was also on hand to thank the volunteers for their efforts in support of the Final Four.

Ettore Messina, Milan: 'It is gonna be difficult'

May 26, 2021 by Javier Gancedo, Euroleague.net Print AX Armani Exchange Milan will compete at the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four for the first time in 29 years. One of the iconic squads in Italian basketball, Milan had not been this close to the EuroLeague title since 1992, in which it lost against eventual champion Partizan Belgrade in the semifinals. It is a return-to-form for Italian basketball, too. The last Italian team to reach the Final Four was Montepaschi Siena in 2011. Milan, however, is not your average Final Four newcomer. It features three EuroLeague champions and the players on the roster between them boast 22 previous Final Four appearances. And of course, Ettore Messina is one of the winningest coaches in European basketball. Messina has won four EuroLeague titles, including the last one for an Italian Club - Kinder Bologna in 2001. Only Zeljko Obradovic (18) has more Final Four appearances than Messina’s 15.

Final Four numbers: CSKA's strength on the glass and the line

May 24, 2021 by Euroleague.net/graphics by Darius Garuolis Print A high-scoring offense and a trip to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four has almost become an annual tradition for CSKA Moscow in May. The same is true this season as the top four teams are set to face off in Cologne, Germany. CSKA heads to its record ninth consecutive Final Four as the top-scoring team in the competition. CSKA has averaged 84.4 points per game, just a tad ahead of its semifinals opponent, Anadolu Efes Istanbul, which ranks second at 84.1. Being the best scoring team in the competition is far from new for CSKA. Since Dimitris Itoudis took over at the bench of the Russian powerhouse in 2014, CSKA is the only team that has scored more than 20,000 total points and its 87.0 points per game are almost 3 points better than the next best team over those seven years.
