Participants in inquiry into N S mass shooting announced

  HALIFAX The joint federal/provincial inquiry into the April 2020 tragedy in Nova Scotia made its first public presentation Thursday. The Mass Casualty Commission is tasked with examining the events leading up to and including April 18 and 19, 2020, during which a gunman killed 22 people in over a 13-hour rampage that encompassed a number of Nova Scotia communities.  In March, the Commission issued a call for applications from individuals and groups with direct interest in the subjects being examined by the inquiry. In a news release, the Commission says it received 60 applications for participation. In Thursday’s announcement, it released the names of individuals and organizations that will be part of the proceedings.

Truro Police ticket two women for violating Health Protection Act

  HALIFAX Two women have been fined after Truro police responded to a report of a disturbance at a local hotel on Tuesday night. Truro Police Service say officers determined the people involved in the disturbance were “in violation of the current Public Health orders.” Two women, including one from the HRM area, have been issued a ticket under the Health Protection Act for failing to abide by provincial health guidelines. They were each issued a Summary Offence ticket for $2,422. Truro Police Service remind people to follow the guidelines as directed or they can expect to face substantial fines.  Share:

Truro police arrests 14-year-old following robbery at local NSLC

  HALIFAX A 14-year-old teenager has been arrested and charged following a robbery at a NSLC in Truro, N.S. On Wednesday afternoon, the Truro Police Service say they received a call about a robbery at the NSLC on Prince Street. Officers arrested a 14-year-old male from Truro in relation to the incident. Police say he has been charged with robbery with a weapon. The youth has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Truro Youth Court at a later date. Share:
