I’m thinking of hosting a festival screening the worst movies filmed in Stamford.
Granted, most people would prefer quality Stamford cinema, but that version wouldn’t last long enough to reach the bottom of a kid-sized tub of popcorn.
I’m inspired by Netflix shooting “The Good Nurse” in Stamford’s streets, starting Eddie Redmayne as a mass murderer. Stamford is at least a better option than Greenwich, which has a shaky record of solving murders.
It’s been a spell since Connecticut flirted with a “Hollywood East” handle after luring filmmakers with generous film tax credits 15 years ago.

The Trump lettering is taken off of the Trump Parc apartment building in Stamford, Conn. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021. Many of the building’s residents supported the move, in part because they feared the name would drop the value of their homes.Tyler Sizemore / Hearst Connecticut Media
STAMFORD The Trump Parc condominium in downtown Stamford is no more.
The building now simply says “Parc Stamford.”
While the word Trump is still legally in the name of the residential tower, passersby will notice that the last name of the former president of the United States is no longer displayed above the entrance to the building on Washington Boulevard.
