The sixth and final in last week’s series of primary election debates hosted by The Kentucky Standard and PLG-TV 13 proved to be the most contentious one yet, as one challenger for the GOP nod for 50th District state representative suggested collusion between her opponent and the outgoing congressman.
In a move that had been speculated upon for months, state Rep. Chad McCoy (R-Bardstown) announced Thursday that he is leaving the state House of Representatives when his term ends Dec. 31. “It’s been an incredible privilege to serve Bardstown and Nelson County in the House and I’m grateful to this community for placing their trust in me,” McCoy said. “I’ve said all along that I have no intention to become a career politician and the time has come to move on to the next chapter.”
