The 1936 film “Reefer Madness is a black and white flick that paints marijuana as a drug that’s as dangerous as heroin and cocaine, and that promises a “hysterical downward spiral filled with evil jazz music, sex and violence” as a result of smoking marijuana.
Now the cult classic has been adapted for the stage as a musical.
The Scottsdale Community Players will be taking a satirical jab at the movie that portrays clean-cut kids being lured into the “evils” of marijuana.
Of course, the propaganda surrounding cannabis use has proven specious over the years, as evidenced by the fact that recreational marijuana is now legal in Arizona. Also, that no one has called it “reefer” since the Eisenhower administration.

RICHMOND, Va. Search warrants obtained by CBS 6 revealed what police found at the scene of a double murder.
Sandra Powell-Wyche, 49, and her husband Curtis Wyche, 36, died from gunshot wounds, according to police.
Before midnight on December 15, a neighbor heard four loud pops, then what sounded like someone pacing inside for several hours, according to court papers.
At 6 a.m. the next day, the neighbor told police she heard furniture being dragged.

RICHMOND, Va. One of the last people who saw Curtis and Sandra Wyche alive said the couple was happy when they were together. You could tell the love that they have for each other because when you see one you usually see the other, Curtis aunt Diane Lewis said. They are laughing, holding hands always taking pictures.
Sandra, 49, and Curtis, 36, ate dinner with Lewis Sunday night.
On Tuesday, they were reported missing.

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Family and friends are mourning the deaths of a Richmond couple who were found dead in their home, hours after they were reported missing.
On Wednesday, Richmond police said Sandra Powell-Wyche, 49, and her husband, Curtis Wyche, 36, were found shot to death after detectives conducted a search of their home in the 4300 block of Chamberlayne Avenue.
