Edwards County Schools have announced several end-of-year activities. The ECHS Senior Class Parade will begin at 5:30 on Friday (May 20). The route will head east from the K-12 building, turn left into the Square, circle the Courthouse, and head back to the K-12. Baccalaureate will be Friday at 7 in Linda Oxby Gymnasium. Graduations will be held on Saturday; West Salem's will be at 10 in the West Salem Gym, and Albion's will be at 4 and the high school's at 7 in Linda Oxby Gymnasium. The Edwards County Board of Education will meet tonight at 7 in the West Salem Grade School Jr. High Science Room. The board will have a number of new business items, including motions to set fees for the upcoming school year, to approve the 2021-2022 tentative final budget, and to set a budget hearing for June 20th at 6:45. More than $525,000 in scholarships and monetary awards was awarded to Fairfield Community High School seniors yesterday at their annual awards event. Alexis Thomason, Trenton Jones, Haley Dozier, Konnor Dagg, and Hunter Biggs were recognized with Illinois State Scholar Awards, and Dagg and Elaina Kunce won the U.S. Army Scholar-Athlete awards. Chris Henry, Ryland Thomason, Parker Richardson, and Blaine Milner were recognized for their plans to enter the National Guard, and Remington Wheeler was recognized for plans to enter the Army.
