ST. LOUIS The Missouri Tigers never adjusted.
The Tigers, who were averaging 9.6 made 3-pointers per game, were just 1-of-17 from deep in the first half Friday in a 97-73 loss to Illinois in the 2023 edition of the Braggin’ Rights Series at Enterprise Center.
“They haven’t gotten deflated after any loss at all this season,” Missouri coach Dennis Gates said of the Tigers. “And I’m not going to ridicule or talk down to them or do anything but what I’ve always done and that’s encourage our guys to play with confidence and regroup during this break.”
Terrence Shannon Jr. scored 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as No. 13 Illinois routed Missouri 97-73 in the annual Braggin' Rights rivalry game Frid.
