St. Clair County companies work to host COVID-19 vaccination clinics

Port Huron Times Herald There were some younger than usual people at a Port Huron manufacturer Friday, as 2-year-olds Thomas Boyea, dressed as Spider-Man, played and Addison Williamson watched a kid’s show in her dad’s office. Both their families had come to 2005 Petit St. for a COVID-19 vaccination clinic, hosted by P.J. Wallbank Springs and sister company Edison Manufacturing and Engineering. Kroger and the Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County helped host the event. The clinic was open to employees, friends, families and vendors and 60 people were signed up for vaccinations, said Karen Tadd, vice president of operations at P.J. Wallbank Springs.

Pandemic fuels increase in human trafficking - ABC7 Southwest Florida

Pandemic fuels increase in human trafficking FORT MYERS, Fla. Well before the coronavirus pandemic, Florida has ranked high for human trafficking. Now, traffickers are taking advantage of the pandemic, putting victims and potential victims at an increased risk, experts warn. “Traffickers tend to be master manipulators,” said Linda Oberhaus, the CEO of The Shelter for Abused Women & Children in Collier County.  As COVID-19 continues to devastate hospitals, families and industries worldwide, the fallout is also fueling job losses and shutdowns, inadvertently opening the door to more exploitation. Those factors combined with people spending more time online are contributing to the already perpetual problem.
