Chula Vista City Council will hold a special meeting Friday to enact a local state of emergency as trash accumulates throughout the city due to stalled contract.
The Chula Vista City Manager will be declaring a Public Health Emergency and invoking the self-help clause on their contract with Republic Services, said.
Chula Vista Mayor Mary Casillas Salas said in a statement Saturday that all trash, recycling and green waste will be collected Monday by Republic Services.
Republic Services said in a statement that Teamsters Local 542 has rejected their latest contract offer extending the garbage strike for Chula Vista and San.
