The 2023 Western Canada Addiction Forum taking place in Kelowna on Friday and Saturday brought together nearly 200 experts in the fields of addiction and mental health.
The latest numbers on the B.C. overdose crisis show at least 814 drug deaths in the first four months of the year, with fentanyl detected in about eight in 10 fatalities.
The move comes after Nanaimo councillors voted to explore public drug use restrictions. Premier David Eby says the province will work with municipalities on a wider plan.
