of a meeting with them is definitely unusual. this is now par for the course. the whole setup was as unpredictable from the trump administration which seems to have its power struggles going on. reince priebus gave the president-elect erroneous information hoping that he would cancel on the meeting. but after all that, after all the drama, the president-elect came up to our 16th floor boardroom, shook everybody s hand, sat down and it was actually quite a civil discussion, i would say. you know what s interesting because we ve had a lot of other news about donald trump sort of going after the media, he does seem to have a particular fixation with the new york times. he ll either tweet that it s failing but then turn around and give interviews to the times. he seems to want the times approval. he really needs the times to like him. it s his home town paper. since when donald trump was a young manhattanite on the make trying to build his reputation, he s always been fixated on
going to call out that one. let me ask you. ted cruz calling it a victory, a profile in courage, now his home state s paper the houston chronicle which had endorsed him in the senate run is turning on him. his favorable surging. i m not even talking about democrats. so ted cruz, is this the beginning of ted cruz or the end? when the houston chronicle, his home town paper says they made a mistake in endorsing him and said if only we had someone like kay bailey hutchinson. that is a serious sign of things to come. ted cruz is a demagogue. the reason you know this, he is smarter than he sounds. he says millions of rushed to their defense. he may have made millions through the super park but he has put that pack s interests. even in texas that is not a winning formula in the long run.

welcome back to the ed show. thanks for watching tonight. clint eastwood s bizarre performance at least week s republican national convention took the country by storm. it was supposed to be mitt s big night. but everyone was confused on eastwood s decision to speak to an empty chair. today, eastwood broke his silence for the first time since taking the stage. and has revealed to inspiration for his 12-minute conversation with an invisible obama. in an interview with his home town paper, eastwood explained, there was a stool and some fella kept asking me if i wanted to sit down. when i saw the stool sitting there, it gave me the idea, and i ll just put the stool out there, and i ll talk to mr. obama and ask him why he didn t keep all of the promises he made to everybody. the stage hand who brought the
conservative, it is a difficult thing to be in today s republican party. and so steve latourettte is leaving congress. he s quitting. stepping down, unexpectedly announcing he will nonrun again. we first got news of this yesterday on the same day that another not that partisan, not that conservative republican congressman from new york told his home town paper that his own republican party is quote, rendering ourselves incapable of governing when all we do is take severe sides. congressman richard hanna telling the post standard of syracuse, quote, i have to say i m frustrated by how much we, the republican party, are willing to give deferential treatment to our extremes in this moment in history. he also called his fellow republicans essentially just plain mean. he said, quote, i would say that the friends i have in the democratic party, i find much more congenial. a little less anger. it is not an easy thing to be not the most partisan, not the most conservative republican in today s
