Taipei, Jan. 12 (CNA) Taiwan will start providing a further 1,400 hotel rooms for temporary quarantine purposes from Thursday to meet increasing demand for quarantine accommodation for overseas arrivals as the Lunar New Year holiday in February draws near, the Tourism Bureau said Tuesday.
From Jan. 14-Feb. 11, the 1,400 hotel rooms in 16 cities and counties other than Yilan, Hualien and Taitung and the offshore Kinmen, Penghu and Lienchiang counties will be available, the bureau said.
The strong demand can also be attributed to the Central Epidemic Command Center s stricter quarantine rules that will come into effect on Jan. 15, requiring people arriving to Taiwan from overseas to have an ensuite bathroom in which to spend their quarantine, according to the bureau.
