Continuing its record upward trend, India has reported 2,73,810 new COVID-19 cases, 1,619 fatalities, and 1,44,178 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the health ministry data showed on Monday, April 19. The total cases stand at 1,50,61,919, including 19,29,329 active cases and 1,29,53,821 recoveries. A total of 1,78,769 patients have died since the pandemic hit India. In its fight against coronavirus, India has vaccinated 12,38,52,566 people so far.

Coronavirus cases in India: 261,500 reported in 24 hours
India reported its highest-ever single-day spike of 261,500 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. As per data on Sunday morning, India registered 1,501 deaths in the past day. With this, India s overall tally has reached 14,788,109 cases and the death toll has jumped to 177,150, as per the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare. Coronavirus cases in India rising at a fast pace
The Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare on Saturday said that there has been a sharp growth in the number of deaths. New cases of coronavirus are also growing at 1.3 times higher than June 2020, it said. In a meeting of health ministers from 11 states and union territories chaired by Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, the minister said, India is currently reporting the sharpest growth rate of 7.6 per cent in new COVID cases, which is 1.3 times higher than case growth rate of 5.5 per cent reported in June 2020. Coronavirus cases in India breach 2 lakh for third consecutive day
India saw the highest spike in coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Over 2.34 lakh coronavirus cases were reported in the past day, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data showed on Saturday. India reported 2,34,692 fresh cases and 1,341 deaths. This is the third consecutive day of over 2 lakh cases in the country.
