“We are excited to have Keenan, Tammy, and Torri joining the Board of Directors of Family Service Society, Inc.” stated President/CEO, Lisa Dominisse. “As we are always grateful and extremely appreciative of the service provided by those board members terming off, and saying goodbye is definitely hard, adding new members always creates opportunities for new ideas, a fresh perspective and new innovation in our organization.”
Eight years ago, Marion resident Chris Doehla decided he wanted to help a family in need have a special Christmas. He posted on Facebook asking if any of his friends would help him.
Doehlaâs childhood friend Randy Speikes reached out to him, and the two friends bought toys for two children.
âEvery year since then weâve gotten together and done it, and every year since then weâve tried to do a little bit more,â Doehla said.
Over the next eight years, Doehla and Speikes helped more than 50 families with the help of others, Doehla said.
âBeing able to help and putting a smile on their face is a pretty cool thing,â Speikes said. âItâs great, but itâs kind of sad at the same time.â
