OKLAHOMA CITY â It is no secret processing plants in Oklahoma are backlogged â producers looking to process their livestock have to wait months and sometimes even up to a year to reserve a spot at a plant.
Earlier this year, Governor Kevin Stitt appropriated $10 million in federal funds from the CARES Act to the Oklahoma Dept. of Agriculture, Food and Forestry with the goal of expanding meat processing capacity and address supply chain disruptions across the state as a result of the COVID-19 public health emergency.
