April 28, 2021 Noles Headed to UNF Invitational for Regular Season Finale
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –The Florida State Track and Field team will head to Jacksonville, Fla. for the North Florida Invitational in a final tune-up before the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships in May.
The two-day meet from April 29-30 begins on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. with the discus and starts at 10:00 a.m. on Friday with the women’s hammer throw. A full meet schedule can be found HERE. Live results will be available HERE.
The Garnet and Gold are back in action after competing through windy and rainy conditions at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. on April 16 and 17. Despite the weather the Seminoles put on a show in the final day posting national and regional marks along with several new FSU records.

The Atlantic Coast Conference recognized four Florida State track and field athletes as performers of the week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. Jo’Vaughn Martin and Adriaan Wildschutt earned Men’s Co-Track Performer of the Week, Maudie Skyring was named Women’s Co-Track Performer of the week and Ruta Lasmane as Women’s Field Performer of the Week.
In his 100 meters season debut, Martin posted a blazing time of 9.94 at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Florida. The Houston native’s personal best time stands as No. 1 in the world this year and sits atop the NCAA Leaderboard (the next closest is 10.00). His performance this past weekend also ranks as the third-fastest time among FSU sprinters on the all-time list.

Jamaica’s double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah returned to winning ways at the Velocity Fest No. 9 meeting at the National Stadium in Kingston on Saturday.
Racing the distance for the first time this year, Thompson-Herah, of MVP Track Club, won the women’s 100m in 11.21 seconds (0.0m/s).
The 28-year-old, who was competing for the second time this season, looked a bit sluggish but despite that won easily in the end. Remona Burchell, of Sprintec, finished second in 11.35, while Natasha Morrison, of MVP Track Club, was third in 11.41.
The victory for Thompson-Herah came a week after she was beaten into fourth place over 200m at the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting in Miramar, Florida.

The Florida State Track and Field team put on a show during day two of this year’s Tom Jones Memorial Invitational, which was highlighted by performances from Jo’Vaughn Martin and Trey Cunningham inside Percy Beard Track at James G. Pressly Stadium.
“We had an unbelievable day today at the Tom Jones meet!” said Head Coach Bob Braman. “I’m so proud of how they dealt with 2 days of rain delays and kept their composure. And to then do so many things on the National level is incredible.”
The most newsworthy of the Seminoles performances was Martin’s astonishing time of 9.94 in the men’s 100 meters. The Houston, Texas native not only recorded a personal best but also his time is currently the world lead, NCAA lead, ACC lead and No. 3 on FSU’s All-Time Top 10 list.
