My name is stephen clark, and i have the honor as serving as the superintendent of the five National Park Service Units located here in beautiful western pennsylvania, including flight 93 National Memorial. Tocome together this day honor the heroes of flight 93 who in the size over this field gave their lives in order to thwart an attack on our Nations Capital. To take a moment to acknowledge the many dignitaries and representatives in attendance today. First, i would like to recognize the president of the families of felt, and alldon of the family members in attendance this morning. I am a sports guy and i read a book about flight 93. You may know, i work for the pittsburgh penguins. Dids because nobody else and apparently nobody was going to pray while and i thought was going to for a while and i thought it needed to be written. From only about 90 miles pittsburgh were the flight crashed and i wanted to read more and write more and i was frustrated. There was a little amount written about 9 11, there was only one book about flight 93 bring about a less than a year after the crash. It was a good job, but there was not much known back then. Smith more now is known. So much more now is no. And i think that the story was merited fr
I thought the story needed to be told. Im a history buff and go to gettysburg all the time and i have been to the temporary memorial ten times. Its only 90 miles from pittsburghy the flight crashed, and i wanted to read more and learn more and was frustrated i couldnt do that. Theres an amazing in book form written about september 11th. One book about flight 93 written less than a year after the crash. The author did a great job but there wasnt much known then and much more has come out since then. I thought the story deserved a narrative from beginning to end. Noting the flight. The documentary is just the flight. My book starts with starts in 1996 when the plot was first proposed to Osama Bin Laden and it goes through a tenth anniversary in 2011 when the flight 93 National Memorial was dedicated. Its more dangerous to travel with u. S. Troops wear by their tribal code its totally morally acceptable to blow up a reporter with an ie d. If he or she is traveling with u. S. Troops. They might still do it but its wrong to do it. So that increases your chances. I think when you stay with local families you are under their protection and many times those people have risked their lives for me or he just because i was paying for a room for the night because thats the code. You are my guess, i take you in and i will die for you until tomorrow morning when you leave in which case you are on your own but hey hotel six dozen give you that.
