TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan plans to become one of the world s top offshore wind energy producers, joining the likes of China and the United Kingdom, as it makes the transition to a zero-emission economy while also seeking greater energy security.
Offshore wind power is not only expected to contribute to Vietnam’s net-zero goal by 2050 but also help with the country’s ever-increasing hunger for energy.
Offshore construction has started on the 16.8 MW Goto floating wind farm offshore Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, the Goto Floating Wind Farm LLC consortium said.
Vestas has secured a 50 MW order with Toda Corporation for the SGET Iwaizumi Wind Farm in Iwate prefecture, Japan. Vestas has also secured an order for 74 MW project in Finland and a 74 MW EPC order for a wind project in Lithuania, both to undisclosed customers.
