CHAFFEE COUNTY â Barry Morphew, the husband of missing Colorado mother Suzanne Morphew, has been arrested in Chaffee County on multiple charges, including first-degree murder, almost a year after Suzanne was first reported missing, according to court documents.
Barry, 53, was arrested Wednesday on charges of first-degree murder after deliberation, tampering with physical evidence, and an attempt to influence a public servant, according to the documents. The offense date for these charges is listed as May 10, 2020.
Suzanne Morphewâs 50th birthday is April 30.
It has been almost a year since the mother of two disappeared from her Maysville home, reported missing from a Motherâs Day bike ride May 10.
Several of Morphewâs friends have organized a birthday vigil for 7 p.m. April 30, at Poncha Springs Visitors Center at which time a bench will be dedicated in her honor.
Organizer Tisha Leewaye said the main reason for the vigil is to make sure Morphewâs name âstays out there.â
Chaffee County Sheriffâs Office, Colorado Bureau of Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigations have conducted joint investigations in the attempt to find Morphew.
