Acton business owner hopes to thrive with the Sharks

Wicked Local Living in a Back Bay apartment, Melissa Clayton discovered a problem: There simply was not enough space in the bathroom to get ready in the morning.  Hairdryer on the toilet tank, toothbrush here, makeup there and not enough vanity top for everything to sit comfortably. When she and her family moved to Acton, the house might have been bigger, but the bathrooms were not and the struggle continued.  It was a puzzle she believes is shared by women everywhere.  From that, the germ of an idea - a collapsible platform that could sit over the sink on the vanity top. When done, it folds down to the size of an iPad - and fits in a handy drawer.

Melissa Clayton, Inventor of The Matte and Founder of Tiny Tags Tired of using her toilet seat as a counter, balancing makeup on the edges of her sink, and watching expensive cosmetics fall on the floor, Melissa knew there had to be a better way.  In 2015, Melissa started exploring how she could cover her sink to create a beauty counter and design something that was compact enough to store in her small bathroom.  After multiple revisions, the final design was approved and Melissa found a small manufacturer for her invention which she called, The Matte.
