A housebuilder has partnered with a Thornbury charity to provide care packages to NHS staff. In recognition of Brain Tumour Awareness Month, which took place throughout March, Miller Homes and Brain Tumour Support gave the gifts to Gloucestershire NHS neurological clinical nurse specialists. Miller Homes donated £500 to the charity which went towards the provision of 25 care packages, which included chocolate, speciality tea bags, bubble bath and other self-care items such as handmade soap, face masks and lip care. Martyn Grimes, operations director for Miller Homes West Midlands, said: “We’re honoured to have been able to partner with Brain Tumour Support in this gesture of thanks to the hardworking and selfless doctors and nurses working on the neurological units of NHS Hospitals in the area.
Comedian and TV presenter Joel Dommett and his model wife Hannah Cooper have become ambassadors for Brain Tumour Support. Joel, who was born in Rockhampton, and Hannah have raised funds for the Thornbury charity on a number of occasions over the past two years, but it was when Hannah s mum was diagnosed with a brain tumour in December that the impact of the charity’s work became very personal. Hannah said: “Knowing that Brain Tumour Support is there to guide and support has really helped to sustain us through some very difficult days. Until you’re faced with this experience it’s hard to comprehend just how much there is to take on board, for mum and for all the family, and the range of emotions you go through.”
