WWII vet celebrates 100th birthday
The Gables at Winchester
Horns and sirens blared as WWII veteran Fran Healy, of Winchester, celebrated his 100th birthday.
Healy was honored during a drive-by parade including emergency vehicles from Winchester police, Winchester Fire and emergency services, the Massachusetts State Police, veterans administration, family members and many friends.
An Honor Guard, assembled by Quartermaster Bill Carroll from VFW Post 3719, stood by as state Sen. Jason Lewis presented citations from the Senate and Gov. Charlie Baker. An official citation from the town of Winchester was presented by chairman of the Board of Selectmen, Michael Bettencourt.
Healy also received the key to the city of Cambridge, his birthplace, from Cambridge City Councilor Timothy J. Toomey.
