MARYLAND â Maryland National Guard Mobile Vaccination Support Teams (MVST) are supporting COVID-19 vaccination efforts around the state.
At Governor Larry Hoganâs direction, the MDNG created the MVSTs to assist state and local health officials in administering vaccinations against the coronavirus in accordance with the stateâs COVID-19 vaccination plan.
âThis is just another great example of the responsiveness and agility of our National Guard,â said Governor Hogan. âWhether it was the massive response when the pandemic first hit last spring or the incredibly rapid deployment to the Capitol just recently, theyâve never failed to come through in a crisis.â

The Department of Homeland Security looked the other way. So did the Pentagon. The FBI collected reports of violence and criminal activity but took no action. The U.S. Capitol Police wrote a threat assessment that President Trump s supporters were disappointed and desperate, that they might become violent. They were all monitoring social media. But only the District of Columbia government and police went on alert; no one else otherwise prepared. That s because government and military officials were afraid.
Approximately 800 members of the Maryland National Guard are on duty in Washington to support the 59th presidential inauguration with a Maryland general officer taking a critical role in the effort.
“I never thought I would be deployed to the [U.S.] Capitol,” one guard member told TODAY.
The Metropolitan Police Department has all hands on deck and is ready to respond to potential threats that have circulated online, Acting Chief Robert Contee said Friday.
Radio host and News4 contributor Tommy McFly said he ran nearly 10.3 miles around the inaugural perimeter Saturday and found tall fences around the National Mall, streets blocked by dump trucks and numerous police officers.
