Clutch City Cluckers is truly Houston, from the messy sandwiches to synthetic grass outside its food truck.
Remember the whole Popeyes chicken sandwich thing? Remember how it captured everyone s attention, and lines were around the block, and many stores ran out of ingredients, and it triggered a national fried chicken sandwich craze?
That was a little less than two years ago. A lot has happened since then. And yet, people still love their fried chicken sandwiches (typically breaded and fried breast, pickles, slaw, and some kind of mayo-based sauce between a soft bun), so much so that a number of restaurants specializing in the item have opened (and are thriving) since then.
We re going to say . yes.

Trust us on this: These were briny as all get out.
Blame it on living off of East Coast oysters for much of my life, but I was never a big fan of those from the Gulf Coast. They lacked saline. They felt like a boring, bland chore more than a relaxing and sumptuous experience.Â
Okay, I was wrong. Sorry.
At least, I was wrong after enjoying half a dozen oysters at Pier 6 Seafood & Oyster House. The new San Leon restaurant, smack on the water and part of a major development that includes a dock under construction and bungalows for tourists, is owned by Raz Halili of family fishery Prestige Oysters. That means Prestige gets bivalves somewhere nearby and hands them off to executive chef Joe Cervantez, formerly of Brennan s of Houston.Â
You won t believe how much we paid for this experience.

The famous (infamous?) Fuku spicy chicken sandwich.
Ask certain customers of David Chang s trendy fried bird concept Fuku whether the chicken or the egg came first . and they might just pelt you with a couple of large eggs.
Fuku, originating in New York and blossoming nationwide with a delivery-only modelâwith food like fried chicken sandwiches being produced in local ghost facilities run by Reef Kitchensâlaunched April 7 in Houston on platforms like DoorDash, Postmates, and Uber Eats. But the rollout had hiccups: Customers reported receiving their food hoursâand even a dayâafter ordering, while some criticized the look and taste of their items.
