It is still a powerful category four storm. Packing winds of 145 miles per hour. It is also moving north at about ten miles an hour. Although its still days away, the latest update now puts us, new england, in the cone of uncertainty. Lets get over the meteorologist Chris Lambert. He has been tracking matthew storm. Chris we are in the cone on day five. That would be on sunday. Right now we have a long ways to go to get there, though. The storm right over haiti. It continues its journey off to north. You can see all the hurricane warnings that are in place across the bahamas, hurricane watch in place, across florida and you get closer to miami, there is a Tropical Storm watch in place. That extends through portions of the keys here. It is going to be a close call with florida. No question, though, this goes right
Watches meaning that hurricane conditions and Tropical Storm conditions possible developing within the next 48 hours. So. This is a system that will continue to head northnorthwest and maintain intensify. That is the concern especially for portions of florida. East coast of florida. This number 4 indicating major hurricane. The category 4. It only goes up to category 5 storm. This was a 5 late last week but it has essentially been maintaining its intensity of a 3 back to a 4 for the last this is the forecast track from the Hurricane Center. And were anticipating one, a new updated track probably around 5 00 pm. You notice the red line. It is east of florida. Even with that you can still have effects either side of the line. Probably going to be a tough go. Then forth to the north it becomes more of a forecast challenge because even though the forecast track does bring it up south of new england that was based on old information. Then does begin to move eastnortheast abeing lo the eastern seaboard. This portion of the forecast north of wilmington is more difficult than the bahama us beastie farther away. There is more, variables in the atmosphere. More ingredients. More chest pieces if you will in the chess board. That can affect outcome to the forecast does have it south of new england on sunday morning. If that were to happen probably it would look like this. We would have a cold front racing out of the great lake states. Here would be matthew and the cold front would draw some moisture out of matthew as the cold front is moving through. But also keep the strongest winds of matthew away from new england. And we also catch catch the tide cycle at a break so not anticipating any coastal though from matthews weather system. Moisture. Sometime late saturday night and early sun
