Leading up to the Aug. 24, 2018 shooting, Reifert said she did not tell Bauman about her relationship with Port Huron Police Lt. Joel Wood. Why didn t you tell him that you were seeing someone else? St. Clair County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Melissa Keyes asked. I would have been dead before August if I did, Reifert said.
Bauman is accused of killing Wood and injuring Reifert, and her neighbor, Tim Fuester. in Clyde Township.
Reifert and Bauman married in October 2013. Reifert said in 2015, Bauman became angry because she refused to follow his instructions. He punched the door, threw pieces of furniture down the stairs and pushed her to the ground.

A jury has been selected for the man accused of fatally shooting an off-duty cop and wounding two others in 2018.
Shortly before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, the jury was selected for Joshua Bauman, 32, of Kimball. Selection took place in McMorran Auditorium to comply with social distancing guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
St. Clair County Circuit Court Judge Michael West dismissed the court shortly after 3:30 p.m. During the trial, which begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday, West said the jury will be seated in the gallery at the back of the courtroom, rather than jury box, due to social distancing guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
