KZN police kill three taxi hitmen after gun battle Share Durban - KwaZulu-Natal police have shot and killed three alleged taxi hitmen who opened fire on taxi full of passengers on Friday. According to police, a taxi with passengers was travelling from Bridge City in KwaMashu to Umzinyathi at around 5.30pm when the driver noticed another mini bus taxi following him. Police said that when the taxi reached the Umzinyathi area, the occupants of the second vehicle opened fire at the taxi laden with passengers. “The driver fled from scene and when he returned to the vehicle, he realised that five female passengers were wounded,” KZN police spokesman, Brigadier Jay Naicker said.

Missing KZN girls found alive By IOL Reporter DURBAN - TWO KwaZulu-Natal girls, aged 5 and 6, who were reported missing, have been found. Police said the girls, Zanamuhla Mchunu and Sambulo Mchunu, of Mtubatuba, had gone missing on Wednesday. KZN SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele, said both were found in a bushy area near their home. After an exhaustive search by various units of the SAPS, they were found in the bushes not far from their homes. At this stage they do not have any injuries however they will be taken for a medical attention as a precaution, Mbele said. The Acting Provincial Commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Thulani Gonya thanked all police officers who worked around the clock, for their dedication and commitment to ensure that these young children are reunited with their parents

Police in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) have come under fire by suspects believed to be involved in a house robbery that took place on Tuesday, with one officer shot in the leg. Police were nonetheless able to apprehend two of the suspects. A follow-up operation that ran into the evening was then launched, and police again came under fire from the suspects. Three men were arrested in the evening and found in possession stolen goods and an assortment of devices used to assist them in a spree of robberies.
