Biden Can't Silence the 1776 Commission

AP Photo/Andrew Harnik As soon as Joe Biden took office, his White House disbanded the 1776 Commission and scrapped its report, published a mere two days earlier. President Donald Trump had compiled the 1776 Commission to respond to the nefarious impact of Marxist critical race theory, which teaches that a hidden racist oppression is the true driver of American history and current society. That noxious idea arguably inspired the Black Lives Matter riots of the summer and Biden coddled those rioters. The 1776 Commission is history, but its members will continue to fight the noxious narratives about America’s past. “The 1776 Report calls for a return to the unifying ideals stated in the Declaration of Independence. It quotes the greatest Americans, black and white, men and women, in devotion to these ideals,” Commission Chairman Larry P. Arnn, Vice Chair Carol Swain, and Executive Director Matt Spalding wrote in a statement Wednesday. “The Commission may be abolished, but

The Obama do-over is about to begin

The Obama do-over is about to begin Presented by BIDEN’S BIG BET Joe Biden will take the oath of office Wednesday against one of the darkest political backdrops in the nation’s inaugural history. He’ll stand in a spot where two weeks earlier a mob launched an insurrection to block a final procedural step in his victory, not far from where a week earlier the current U.S. president was impeached for encouraging the riot. He’ll look out at a National Mall locked down like never before, protected by troops like never before. And he’ll be surrounded by a sparse crowd of masked VIPs sitting in socially distanced chairs, a stark reminder of a pandemic that each day kills as many Americans as died on 9/11.

Trump 1776 Commission report on education re-used old material

Oliver Contreras-Pool/Getty Images The Commission aimed to rebut what its authors claim is liberal bias in history teaching.  The report has been attacked for its ideological bias and lack of academic rigor.  Sections of a report commissioned by President Donald Trump pushing for patriotic education appear to have been lifted directly from an old op-ed by one of its authors. The 45-page report was published by the 1776 Commission, established last year by Trump to promote patriotic education. It was billed as a rebuttal of the New York Times 1619 Project, which placed the story of slavery at the heart of American history. It attacks what the authors claim is a liberal bias in American classrooms.
