Gov. Greg Gianforte announced Monday his appointment of Thomas Pardy to serve on the Thirteenth Judicial District for Yellowstone County. Pardy will fill the vacancy created by Thirteenth Judicial District Judge Michael G. Moses’ retirement, effective July 1, 2023, according to a news release from the Governor’s Office.

HELENA, Mont. - Bills passed during the 2021 Montana Legislative Session eliminating election day registration, paid ballot collection and changing voter ID requirements have been ruled unconstitutional Friday.
The court found that the suite of laws, which banned same-day registration and added complications around voter ID, among other things, violated the Montana Constitution and unreasonably restricted one's constitutional right to vote.
