legislative agenda, which is pretty ambitious for republicans? the bigger thing hanging over them is probably going to be the midterm elections, whether it s infrastructure or focused on things like ryan wants to do which is not going to get too many democrats on board. certainly in the midterm election here and political d e dynamics that we ve been covering, not a lot of goodwill or incentive to work together. there s an immigration crisis that is going to come up next year but both parties seem to want the issue for the midterm. russia will be an important factor if something does develop and that could have a big impact on capitol hill but the midterms might even preclude that and might not be an opportunity for a window for much to happen next year. you guys, stand by. we have much more to talk about, including the president golfing

we re watching for president obama in north carolina expected to hear from him in 20 minutes. today, he s drawn a line in the sand for congress. no tax cuts for anyone without an extension of emergency benefits for millions of americans. congress doesn t have a lot of time left to act. it s almost christmas eve. i don t think anybody thinks that we can leave this thing hanging. congress has to come up with some kind of deal by the end of the year, or else everyone s taxes will go up january 1st, but there s still a deep divide. in a rare weekend session, democrats try ied and failed twe to extend tax cuts only for the middle class. zwl the motion is not agreed to. republicans opposed anything that doesn t give the very rich a tax break and called the vote a waste of time. we just keep doing the same thing over and over again. the president is also focused on jobs and those who don t have them.
