Two people have died and more than 20 were injured in a mass shooting in southern Florida early on Sunday, the latest such incident in the United States to fuel a fractious debate on gun safety laws.
Police are searching for the assailants who pulled up outside a billiards club to the northwest of Hialeah, a suburb of Miami, and opened fire on a crowd using handguns and assault rifles.
“I am at the scene of another targeted and cowardly act of gun violence, where over 20 victims were shot and 2 have sadly died,” Miami-Dade police director Alfredo Ramirez III said on social media.

Benjamin Netanyahu s days as Israeli prime minister could be numbered after nationalist Naftali Bennett said he would join a coalition being put together by opposition leader Yair Lapid.
Mr Bennett said his Yamina party would join a diverse collection of opponents seeking to topple Mr Netanyahu.
“It’s my intention to do my utmost in order to form a national unity government along with my friend Yair Lapid, so that, God willing, together we can save the country from a tailspin and return Israel to its course,” Mr Bennett said.
Yamina will lend six seats to Mr Lapid s effort to form a majority in the 120-member Knesset.
The request was confirmed by both a Lebanese army source and an Iraqi Defence Ministry official.
“There will be more financial aid, but details have not been agreed on yet,” said the Iraqi official.
The army source said that the money would be spent on food and medicine for its 80,000 soldiers.
Neither side gave an official explanation for the army s request, but analysts were not surprised.
“Institutions are trying to bypass the banking system and the Lebanese pound,” said financial analyst Mike Azar.
“We have been moving to a cash economy for the last 18 months as the banking system remains insolvent. The currency crisis and multiple exchange rate system makes it challenging to do business in Lebanese pounds.”
