th Street.
Neighborhood Pastor Vincent Parker of Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church has been pushing for this accomplishment after many years of city neglect and demolition of older homes.
“I’ve always known that it would take a long, slow slog to keep some momentum going because it was years where there was no momentum,” he said. “I’ve seen three, four, five mayors, and how many city councilpersons. So, it has taken all of them and everyone has built on top of that to make sure that something eventually would happen.”

City officials and housing leaders on Tuesday took the first step toward revitalizing the southeast Dallas neighborhood by breaking ground on a $110 million redevelopment plan for 400 new homes individually priced at $200,000. We are going to transform this community, said Dallas City Council member Carolyn King Arnold, who represents District 4.

The city s plan of building 400 affordable houses began on Tuesday with the ground-breaking of houses on South Denley Drive in The Bottom District. More houses will be built in future phases of the plan.

After over a decade of waiting, the redevelopment project for The Bottom District, located alongside the Trinity River in southeast Dallas is under way in earnest.
The construction began with four homes on South Denley Drive, and on Tuesday community leaders and developers gathered for a groundbreaking for the project that will eventually include up to 400 new homes that are priced starting between $200,000 and $300,000.

DALLAS In the shadows of the downtown Dallas skyline, change is happening. On the edge of the historic Tenth Street community is an area called The Bottom.
Some locals describe the neighborhood as being neglected for years.
“The Bottoms was throw away. Now it’s hot,” Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price told a crowd gathered around a lot on the 500 block of N. Denley Drive.
