over at the white house, officials are laying out a new plan to try to fight off a winter wave of covid infections, restarting free at home covid tests and asking testing sites to be beefed up and a national strategic stockpile ready with masks and gowns and gloves and ventilators and they want you to do something, they want you to go out and get the updated covid booster. if every american does their part, every american goes out and gets an updated vaccine and if everyone american gets treated who sell gibl for treatment, he could have a very different winter and that is the goal of this effort. i want to bring in somebody who knows a lot about this, the person you just saw in that sound bite, white house covid response coordinator dr. ashish jha. thanks for being with me. thanks for having me.
more than 1800 colleges are test optional this year according to the national center for fair and open testing including some of the mostly let private and public schools. less dependence on standardized tests is liberating for colleges and universities. the schools can select the class they want more diverse or whatever factor they choose. the number of students reporting sat or act scores had a huge drop-off in 2020 when testing sites were closed because of covid-19. testing optional has grown. it adds to the stress of mom and dad. experts warn optional does not mean without impact. in some cases some universities accepting a higher percentage of applicants with test scores than students without. bill: changing times. dana: bill just asked me did you study for your standardized test? me, yes.
The first available appointments for both locations are Friday, Sept. 16. The Moorhead and Rochester sites will both be open Fridays from noon-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Both sites will offer the Pfizer bivalent booster.
