Weirton council stops water board expansion proposal | News, Sports, Jobs

chowell@weirtondailytimes.com WEIRTON – A proposal which would have expanded the membership of the Weirton Area Water Board was halted after members of City Council expressed confusion over how and why the ordinance was developed. Weirton Council met in special session Thursday, presented with an ordinance which would have amended provisions of Article 161 of the Ordinances of the City of Weirton. That section of code is focused on the membership and terms of members of the water board. The ordinance, which had been recommended by the water board 5-0 during its meeting earlier this month, would have expanded the board from its current five voting members to seven.

Parking, speeding discussed in Weirton | News, Sports, Jobs

chowell@weirtondailytimes.com WEIRTON – No parking areas and speed limits were among issues discussed by the city’s Traffic Commission during its meeting Thursday. The commission, meeting both in-person and by phone, continued a previous discussion concerning a proposal from Ward 6 Councilman Enzo Fracasso on the extension of a yellow curb on Hillcrest, as well as the road’s intersection with Lane J. Chairman Romie Castelli explained one of the issues is because of a group of three vehicles, near the top of a hill on the street, which has caused difficulties for some residents. “That’s where he wants the yellow line, to the top of the hill,” Castelli said.
