New manager Mick McCarthy appears unlikely to make many dramatic changes as he goes into his first game as Blues boss at Birmingham City on Saturday. McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor officially took over at Portman Road yesterday and haven’t had too much time to work with their new players.
Mick McCarthy says he’s yet to make any decision on the remaining members of Paul Jewell’s coaching staff. Assistant manager Chris Hutchings left the club by mutual consent earlier today with Terry Connor taking on his role, but no further changes have as yet been made. Still at the club from the Jewell era are coaches Mark Kennedy, who played for McCarthy with Millwall and the Republic of Ireland, Sean McCarthy, fitness coach Andy Liddell, U18s coach Russell Osman and fitness consultant Steve Williams.
Wolves have confirmed the exits of their chief scout Dave Bowman (pictured) and European scout Ian ‘Taff’ Evans. Yesterday, there was speculation in the West Midlands press that the duo could be on their way to join their old boss Mick McCarthy at Portman Road.
