Firefighter who died fighting arson identified by West Virginia Air National Guard December 28, 2020 Senior Airman Logan Young, a firefighter with the West Virginia Air National Guard s 167th Airlift Wing, died while responding to a fire in the local community on Dec. 27. (West Virginia Air National Guard) Investigators have determined the fire was caused by arson, the Guard said in a release. Young, 30, was responding to a mutual aid call with the 167th Fire Department, part of the 167th Airlift Wing in Martinsburg, West Virginia. He is survived by his mother, father, brother and fiancée, the release said. By: Philip Athey

W Va National Guard Airman Dies In Mutual Aid Structure Fire

/ West Virginia National Guard senior airman Logan Young died in a structure fire while responding to a mutual aid call in Jefferson County. The West Virginia State Fire Marshall is investigating two suspicious fires it says are connected in Jefferson County, one of which took the life of West Virginia National Guard senior airman Logan Young. The West Virginia State Police is helping with the investigation. Young, 30, was fatally injured in the early morning hours of Dec. 27 during a mutual aid response call to the second fire. He joined the West Virginia Air National Guard in 2018 and served as a firefighter in the 167th Civil Engineer Squadron.
