AMS s Prospect Rankings + Mini Mock
Happy Draftsmas Eve! We ve almost made it!
We can finally get ready to toss away and tear up our mocks (or prepare for the Day 2/3 mocks if your into that). Ive once again decided to grace this site with an article it doesnt need, this time ranking prospects at each position, with an emphasis or deeper dive into spots our Vikings have as needs and hitting on some of my farovites. At the end i ll throw in a fun little mock, just to get the last one out of my system (until tomorrow on my lunch break probably). As always, just for fun, i am no expert and enjoy to roast me in the comments. SKOL!

BN’s Composite Ranking
Ranking prospects is difficult, in part, because no one publication has the same set of fundamentals or preferences. In an attempt to work through that noise, we’re using a composite ranking based on opinions from PFF, ESPN, The Draft Network, and Pro Football Network and adapting them to a points scale. The best of the top-10 prospects gets 10 points, the 10th ranked prospect gets 1, and prospects outside the top-10 get 0. From there, the prospects are ranked by total points.
Mock Draft - 7 Players rated in top-5 at their Position By Riding Herd on Apr 19, 2021, 2:08pm CDT +
Draft Mode: Realistic Trade Mode: Strict Draft Order: Pre-Draft
For this draft, I decided to trade back into the early 20s and select the best defensive player available. From there, my strategy was to trade back to accumulate picks and then trade up when necessary to get my desired players.
As it turned out, I ended up with picks far too high for the ratings on the guys I wanted late in the draft so I traded back down to get some extra picks at the end. That part of the draft might not be totally realistic in a real draft scenario but it all works with the trade points, etc.
