A Timaru man has been warned the next time he gets caught drink-driving he could end up in prison. Benjamin Terence Powell, 41, appeared before Judge Joanna Maze at Timaru District Court for sentencing on Friday. He had earlier pleaded guilty to a charge of driving with excess breath alcohol, after being stopped in the Southland township of Mataura, on March 11, 2021. He blew 779 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath - more than three times the legal limit of 250mcg.
