Beach blaze in Jaywick being treated as arson | Clacton and Frinton Gazette

A BEACH blaze which was started days after a coastal village was hit with several arson attacks in one night was started deliberately. Essex firefighters were called to Beach Way, Jaywick, shortly after 7.30pm on Wednesday following reports of a fire on the seafront. Upon arrival they found what residents believe to have been a pile of waste and wood which had been torched not far from the water. After working on quelling the fire for roughly half an hour, the crews managed to safely extinguish the blaze by 8pm. A spokeswoman for the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said it is being treated as arson.

Community champions deliver food parcels to Jaywick s vulnerable

COMMITTED community champions have delivered food parcels to vulnerable village residents in need. The Jaywick Sands Community Forum partnered with the Community Resource Centre, Baby Bank Tendring, and Asda’s Amy Openshaw for the charitable effort. Together they collected and an impressive 100 food parcels which were able to be obtained thanks to a grant from the Essex Association of Local Councils. Following the mass pick-up the hard-working teams then delivered the packages to residents living in Jaywick and West Clacton. Brad Thompson, who is an Independent candidate for West Clacton and Jaywick Sands in the upcoming Tendring Council elections, helped with the initiative. He said: “This is the biggest food parcel delivery to go out in one day in the area, so thank you to everyone involved.”

Tendring Council urged to rethink beach ban for horse riders

I am very disturbed to discover that Tendring District Council has banned horses from Frinton beach from April 2 until October 1 (Gazette, April 1). Though not a horserider, I can think of no more wonderful and inspiring sight than that of horses being ridden along our beach, it is what England and in particular Frinton is all about. The freedom to do such things, with neither bye nor leave from anyone, is a true public liberty and an English birthright. However Tendring Council, with the support of its two Frinton councillors Nick Turner (Conservative) and Terry Allen (Tendring First), has managed to have the by-laws manipulated to achieve this ban.
