NRLW 2021: Karina Brown focused on success at Gold Coast Titans

There are few players in the women’s game with more experience than Brown. Brown made her Test debut at the Jillaroos successful 2013 World Cup campaign and was also part of the winning team in 2017. She helped to establish the Bears as well as the Easts Tigers, has represented the Queensland Maroons in 2012, 2012 and from 2015 onward and has played for several NRLW clubs, including the Sydney Roosters and the Warriors. Now she has the opportunity to be part of creating a NRLW team. Helping to build a culture at a new club is what I was most excited about and a big reason why I wanted to be part of a new club, Brown said.

NRLW 2021: The Broader Game, Ali Brigginshaw, Queensland Maroons, NSW Sky Blues, captain fires first barb ahead of women's State of Origin

Ali Brigginshaw has fired a barb at NSW leading into the Women s State of Origin on June 25 with the Dally M Medallist suggesting Queensland has the stronger club competition. Brigginshaw s Valleys Diehards fell short of claiming the BHP Premiership over Burleigh last weekend with Maroons teammate Tamika Upton scoring the match-winner with four minutes remaining. However, it was Brigginshaw s words post-match which drew the attention of those south of the border, when talking to the crowd at the presentation. The 31-year-old declared the eight-team, seven-round competition in Queensland offered more to players than the Harvey Norman NSW Premiership. All NSW players in the Origin side except Millie Boyle, who is based in Queensland, play their club footy in the NSW state competition.

The Broncos have received a blow to their Telstra Women s Premiership preparations with Raecene McGregor set to be sidelined for up to five months due to a shoulder injury. McGregor will undergo a shoulder reconstruction next week after suffering another setback while playing for the Wests Tigers in the Harvey Norman NSW Premiership. The 23-year-old originally dislocated her shoulder in a freak accident while celebrating her sister Page s try during the Harvey Norman All-Stars game in February. After missing more than a month to manage the injury, McGregor made a successful return to the field on Easter Monday. However, she was taken from the field a week later with a recurrence.

In Maori culture, Tā moko is an artform, an important expression of cultural heritage and identity. For Rota, her latest Tā moko is about family and the patterns within it link to the tribal areas that she is from in New Zealand. On her paternal grandfather’s side, Rota is from Matatā.
