Morocco initially only requested search and rescue teams from Spain, Great Britain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Many other countries, including Germany, France and the U.S., had also offered their help to Morocco. French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna denies that this has political reasons. "Let's put the tensions aside. People are suffering and need help," Colonna said. At least 2122 dead and at least 2421 injured were registered by Sunday evening, the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior said.
