TECH NEWS : The wave of mass layoffs swept across some of the world's largest companies in April 2024, with tech titans like Tesla, Google, and Apple forced to cut thousands of jobs. So far, more than 70,000 people have lost their jobs in the tech sector this year.
Google dismissed employees for protesting against its cloud project with Israel, leading to accusations of violating labour rights and attempts to instil fear in employees.
While the full scale of these new layoffs is unclear, Bloomberg has reported that Tesla’s total headcount reduction that began earlier this month could end up being as high as 20 percent of its workforce, or well in excess of 20,000 employees.
