Down after a big rig crashed and started leaking fuel around 9 a. M. South of andrade road. Heres the view from chopper 5. The semi truck hit a tow truck and that was stopped in the slow lane of the freeway. It leaked ethanol fuel. Fire crews surrounded the tank trailer with water hoses as a precaution. Hazmat is on the way. Southbound 680 crept past in the far left lanes. At one point the backup was almost to pleasanton. About an hour after the crash, the california Highway Patrol closed all southbound lanes of the freeway and diverted traffic off at highway 84 from chopper 5. You can see the closure caused a major backup there, as well. Just got an update from the chp and they say they dont expect to have southbound lanes open until at least 3 p. M. New at noon a pedestrian has been killed crossing a busy intersection in milpitas. The man in his 20s hit on north milpitas road about 5 45 a. M.
